Behind the Needles
Every knit from Happy Thought is made lovingly by hand, in a home near Cleveland, Ohio, amongst the hustle and bustle of a busy young family. When you buy from our shop, not only are you investing in an addition to your wardrobe that will last for decades—you're also supporting an artist. Happy Thought is about a dedication to fashion with longevity, handcrafted apparel for your forever wardrobe. A cardigan takes 14 hours to make. A vest takes 4. A balaclava takes 3. And that element of making is a huge component of the brand.
Where the Patterns Begin
Often, inspiration for my pieces comes from what I wish I had in my own wardrobe. My first pattern, the Sweater Vest, came from my desire to own a cropped, wide, sleeveless sweater that could work for multiple seasons. Other times, I am inspired by iconic fashionistas like The Nanny's Fran Fine! One thing is for sure: Happy Thought is full of color. I want my knits to make you feel happy, of course!
More Than Just a Sweater
I believe that what we wear should carry a story of care and intention. When I knit an article of clothing, I am enveloping that care and intention in every stitch. From choosing numbers in my patterns that have meaning to me, to pairing colors that "feel right," I truly embed my Self into these items. When I see my customers wearing the art I make, the work clicks into completion.
