5 Ways to Style a Chunky Cardigan

Wondering how to style a chunky cardigan so you can wear it again and again? This guide is here to show you 5 outfits you can wear with your oversized cardigan—and there are countless variations!

Let’s get into it.

Style #1: Jumpsuit

There’s nothing simpler to wear than a jumpsuit. Mine is white, which is a great neutral option, and I love wearing it with both the Spring Cardigan Coat and the Neutral Cardigan Coat. Add a hat, bright color shoes, or a bold bag and you’ve got a great, simple outfit.

Style #2: Oversized Maxi Dress

Something about fitted clothing really bugs me, so I opt for oversized looks quite often. I love an oversized maxi dress—it’s like wearing a big bag which somehow is very comforting to me! My leopard print maxi dress was a thrift find, and I think it looks awesome clashing with the colors in the Spring Cardigan Coat. Aimon opted to wear a coordinating orange with hers. Either way rocks.

Style #3: Satin Shirt & Jeans

I love the juxtaposition of a satin shirt with a wool cardigan and jeans. If Gen Z has taught me anything about fashion, it’s to pair unexpected pieces together for a completely new look. Cardigans from happy thought knits can definitely be used as a coat, even on chilly Cleveland days, and they’re perfect for your freezing air conditioned office with the thermostat that doesn’t actually work. Pair yours with a fancy top like me!

Style #4: Statement Pants & T-Shirt

Have a totally sweet pair of pants that you don’t know what to pair with? I love wearing my faux leather pants with the Neutral Cardigan Coat and a plain white tee underneath. Simple, cool, and somehow understated but also bold? Great choice.

Style #5: Double Up the Wool!

On a cold day, nothing works better than a cardigan + vest combo. Our Spring Vest and Neutral Vest are meant to pair with a cardigan coat for an extra layer of happy. Keep it casual or dress it up. Now that’s a statement outfit!
